An exciting opportunity exists for a Chair to join the Board of Archery GB, the National Governing Body for archery in the UK. With 45,000 members, an extensive national competition calendar, over 1000 clubs and a loyal, strong volunteer base, Archery GB facilitates medal winning performances globally at all levels and disciplines.

The organisation is funded by UK Sport and has both Olympic and Paralympic medal winning targets for the major Championships and Tokyo 2020. Further funding comes from Sport England to help facilitate the continued growth of the sport.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To chair the Board meetings, bringing out the best from fellow Board members  
  • Strategic oversight of the 4 year strategy and annual plans  
  • Working with the Company Secretary to prepare information for the Board meetings  
  • Alongside the CEO, act as the organisation's representative in its dealings with stakeholders. 
 

We are looking for candidates with a proven ability to chair and facilitate senior executive/ Board meetings, with excellent communication and presentation skills and an interest in sport. Ideally, you will be an entrepreneurial thinker with an enthusiastic style. You should possess the skills to act as a 'critical friend' to the Board and CEO, with the ability to think creatively and strategically.

The position is voluntary with expenses paid. The term is 4 years, with a maximum of 2 terms permitted. The time aspects for the Chair position include 6 Board meetings a year which are normally in London, together with relevant preparation for the agenda; occasional meetings with UK Sport, Sport England and the British Olympic Association, normally in London and attendance at the World or European Archery congress on alternate years. The head office is based at a hub of sporting excellence in the UK with world-class facilities, at the National Sport Centre in Lilleshall, Shropshire.
